Andrew joined the partnership at TimberHomes in 2018, making him the fifth worker/owner on the crew.
Andrew lives for that moment when he can step back and admire something beautiful he just finished building. He discovered how to merge this love for creating beautiful things and his love for nature, when he first attended a Natural Building Colloquium. He’d been doing fine-woodworking and basic carpentry since his early teens, but after getting that first taste of timberframing, strawbale construction, and related building techniques, he felt he’d found his purpose. Soon after, he explored these same techniques more at Yestermorrow Design/Build School.
All these pursuits helped Andrew avoid college for a couple years, but he eventually went to Alfred State College to get his Associates of Building Science. That program gave him a grounding in conventional construction, a deeper understanding of timberframing, and opportunities to rebuild in Haiti and the New Orleans area.
After college, he worked as a self employed contractor for a few years in his home town of Rochester NY. Once, he designed and built a small timberframe barn, but mostly he found himself doing remodels and repair jobs. Knowing he wasn’t staying true to his passions, he took an opportunity to volunteer on a TimberHomes project at the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge in New Hampshire. Not long after that, he joined TimberHomes full time.
