Peconic Land Trust Adds Memorial Locust Bench

September 9, 2026

The Peconic Land Trust on Long Island, NY, recently installed a TimberHomes Locust Bench to memorialize a donor and friend of the Quail Hill Farm in Amagansett.

Jessie McSwane of the Peconic Land Trust explained, “One of our donors wanted to have this bench as a memorial to his mother, who was a member of our farm. The location of the bench was selected by the donor because it’s under a tree and in between our member u-pick fields giving visitors a place rest as they finish one field and before they move to another field. The view is absolutely beautiful! The plaque says the bench is dedicated to a woman who is an avid gardener and a really great mom.”

As an important part of their mission, the Peconic Land Trust strives to make access to land for farmers on Long Island. Their cause is a noble one. Connecting young and ambitious farmers to fertile but extremely expensive land helps to build food security in the area while maintaining a traditional way of life.
