Trailhead Kiosk Supported by Trail Construction Grant Program

October 10, 2019

Morris County Preservation Trust Fund has taken a giant leap toward promoting the health and well being of their community while encouraging eco-tourism in their forests.  Voters in Morris County get behind their open space and historic preservation in a real way, levying ¾ cents per $100 of real property valuation, resulting in a significant investment in Morris County’s natural landscape.

The TimberHomes Classic Kiosk was installed along the Wharton Trail in the Irondale Mountain Trail system in Wharton, NJ with the help of Balitano Contracting and John Morgan Thomas Landscape Architects.   The kiosk is made from timber from Northern New England forests using classic timber frame techniques.  The white oak posts offer rugged durability, and the natural cedar signboard and shingles will develop a beautiful weathered patina of old New England that will guide visitors along the Irondale Mountain Trail system for years to come.
