Just prior to the beginning of the school year, TimberHomes installed a two bent timber framed pavilion for the Montessori School of Central Vermont. Located in Barre, the school offers preschool through elementary grades for area children. With the onset of Covid, the school decided to construct the outdoor classroom to help facilitate a safer environment for the children and staff.
The pavilion is a replica of two others which TimberHomes built for the towns of Rochester and Royalton Vermont in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. White Oak posts sit upon precast concrete piers. The posts hold up a White Pine timber trusses which support a series of purlins. It’s all capped by 6/4 pine boards which make up the roof deck, covered by roofing underlayment. Eventually, a standing seam roof was added.
