In 2011, we designed and built this lovely timber frame gazebo for clients in Petersham, Massachusetts. As described on our website, we built a floor system out of naturally rot-resistant black locust timber, and cut the 10’x10′ gazebo out of other local timber species. We are pleased to see it holding up so well, after 13 years in the elements.
The clients recently got in touch to let us know their gardens and the gazebo have been featured in Flower Magazine. In it, the clients describe their long and arduous efforts at making their 87 acre property into a wonderland of flowering plants. They note hiring a garden designer in 2010, who “brought the landscape into a more efficient dialogue, while also creating a Koi pond and a gazebo as a place to admire the surrounding landscape. That’s when the garden really came together…..(these additions) took a series of disparate places and gave them continuity.” You can read the full article here: Lost and Found by Tovah Martin
It’s incredibly rewarding to be in touch with people we worked with over a decade ago, and to know that a building we made is being used and loved. Gazebos are especially conducive to the timber frame style of building – timber frames create open spaces without the need for too many pesky posts in the way, and having an exposed frame lets you appreciate the beauty in the wood and the artistry in the joinery.
