Our phone rang in the early Fall this year – someone in Waterbury, VT had a barn most of the way through construction when the company building it suddenly closed it’s doors, leaving the barn nearly complete but without it’s crowning cupola. We agreed to pick things up where they had left off; what a lovely project this turned out to be!
Being a such a small project, for a client who was ready to go, and an architect whose vision had a style we jive with meant we were able to turn this project around quickly. Two gnomes churned out shop drawings and did the timber framing and general carpentry work, complete with white cedar shingles stained to match the existing, nearly completed barn. East Coast Copper came to our Montpelier shop to roof it, and Brochu and Son Crane service signed on for the raising.
Raising day was swift and uneventful – except for the main event – and the crane left site earlier than expected. We had a delightful time with both our client and their architect, Bud Wilson, and are looking forward to building a staircase for these same folks.
