In 2002, Josh and his business partner at the time Ben Yeomans, built a timber frame in Lake Toxaway, NC. This home was insulated with straw bales and it became the first home in Transylvania County (yes, it is a real county) to use straw bales for insulation. After the frame was raised, Harvest Home Improvements (Harvest Leasure), with the help of Matthew Agrella-Sevilla, went on to provide the finishing touches to this beautiful home.
This home is now being sold by Mike Carrick ( carrickproperties.com/2278-
Mike describes the home by saying, “Straight out of a storybook..Timber framed straw bale constructed home and cottage bordering Pisgah National Forest and Diamond Creek stream. Natural plaster walls, custom concrete showers and sinks, local milled hardwood floors, locust exterior decking, so many artistict details found throughout this special property. Small guest cottage is tucked on other side of small stream. Lower level of main home is a guest suite or complete seperate studio. This home will be in magazines an books one day..seriously!
