When we constructed a garage/master-suite addition on this classic timber frame home in 2008, the one thing that needed to wait was a small balcony on the west gable. The balcony is now done! We built it entirely of black locust for maximum natural rot resistance; the weight is balanced on the fork, while long bolts back into the house keep it stable.
