Berkshire School RKMP Adirondack Lean-to

May 21, 2012

Last fall Sean was invited by his father Mike Dalton to Berkshire School to teach a weekend workshop on the Full-Scribe or Swedish-Cope method of log building.  With this knowledge in hand he and his students began to build a classic Adirondack Lean-to during their after school activity with the Ritt Kellogg Mountain Program.  The group selected pine trees from the woods surrounding the campus then felled and peeled all of the logs prior to the workshop.  Over the course of fall semester of ’11 and spring semester of ’12 Mr. Dalton and a some dedicated students chipped away at the structure.  In the spring the Lean-to was dedicated to Hillary Russell – a former teacher at Berkshire School.
