David’s home in Vershire, Vermont was the first official TimberHomes project, built in 2006. Two thirds of the timber in the frame came right from the driveway and site clearing. The house is a simple rectangle but the curved tie beams, braces, forked porch posts and other timber elements give it some real flair.
We achieved a 5 Stars Plus energy rating, the highest possible, thanks to our unique enclosure package of cellulose-filled site-built panels, radiant heat system, and well-chosen appliances. David and his family moved into this house in 2007 and heated it with 1.5 cords of wood and about 150 gallons of propane last winter – not bad for a house in Vermont with 1800 square feet finished space and a 1000 square foot walkout basement. This house is available for client visits.
