Mackenzie grew up in the Upper Valley and had an early interest in combining her love of mathematics with art. In college, she discovered set construction through a work-study at the campus theater and ended up double majoring in Mathematics and Dramatic Arts (the latter of which unearthed her preternatural gift for physical comedy). She continued studying set construction at UNC Chapel Hill, earning an MFA in Technical Production & Production Management. After graduation, Mackenzie spent the next few years in New York City working on various Broadway productions and even had the opportunity to tour the United States and Canada as a Head Carpenter.
When Covid-19 shuttered Broadway, Mackenzie, her husband John, and their dog Olive decided to move closer to home. Since then, she’s been working in residential carpentry and continues to enjoy transferring her set-building skills to home-building skills.
