This frame was cut during the Humble Abode partnership between Josh and Ben Yeomans. Dave Bowman shared his skills and his shop with us for this project. The frame was raised in Lowell, Massachusetts over the course of two days with a crane and the active involvement of the client and a number of his friends. The offset ridge beam rests on a twenty eight foot tall white ash forked tree, with forked braces and gently curving tie beam.

All of these elements were peeled and scribed into the frame round, with full mortise and tenon joinery. The balcony railing was incorporated directly into the timber frame. The client subsequently enclosed the frame with SIP panels and took the project to completion on his own.
